I wouldn't want any of them. We should not be looking for 1 month rentals. If we are going to make a trade and give up prospects and picks it better be for a player who fits our longterm plans (like a Evander Kane) or make smaller trades (like trading off Fayne, Salvador, Bernier, Carter and/or maybe even Marty). those guys won't bring back much but it will open up roster spots for our younger players. I would also put Jagr (who i would love to keep) out there to see what the Devils could get back.....you never know if somebody gets desperate if they lose out on other players.

El futuro.

I agree. Find the best player on the worst team and build around that. While it would be nice to make the playoffs this year, it wouldn't serve much beyond a confidence booster that this year wasn't a total bust. This is not a team that can do much in the post-season and barely have tread water all season.

I would rather trade Marty and Salvador to Chicago (as per JJ's blog today) and try to get a pick/prospect back.

Not sure any of those targets are all that realistic. Hemsky has been on the block for what seems like 3 years. Not easy to agree on a price for him.

Exactly the same issue when dealing with Brian Burke. It took him forever and a day to move Tomas Kaberle. Cammalleri very well could stay put.

I don't think acquiring a forward is set in stone. Fact is Gelinas made an awful play in a late game situation yesterday. Absolutely awful. No way around it. Merrill also didn't look great defending the 2 on 1 (although I think that was more of a fantastic shot fake by Pavelski that caused the slide). I'm sure they'll both be fine, but they may not be ready for big minutes in a playoff atmosphere. Point is, they may also look to bolster the defense by adding a guy like Edler and hope that more offense is created by better transition, rather than trying to plug in a forward somewhere in the top 6.

a third and a sandwich from Primanti Brothers for MacTavish. Seriously, we have been over this before. Hemsky is what he is - an enigma. You are a known hater of Hemsky and should realize what he is. He has skill and talent, but it hasn't translated into much the last three years. Why should teams pay more for a guy that has supposedly been miscast in Edmonton, or played great for the Czech Republic in the Olympics? If the later is true, the Latvian goalie is worth three first round picks alone for Tampa Bay.

A third round pick for Hemsky is very fair.

I usually offer plain old ham sandwiches up but this guy offers primanti bros. Typical peguins high roller over here.

No it isn't....and it's pretty obvious that most people haven't watched Hemsky play....

Using your thought process Merrill is a washout and worth what - A 6th round pick?

Hemsky is 30
Merrill is 22

Try again

Hemsky's best season was 23 goals. Hasn't broken 42 pts since 2009.
This season he's on pace for 9 G and 32 P.

Yeah, man. He's lighting the world on fire!!!

You gotta be in it to win it! And I want to be in it. We can battle hard and at least have a shot. We have nothing to lose besides a few draft spots in the rounds following the 1st.. and we have everything to gain. There's a chance. .a small one.. but we have. . a SCHNEIDER.

I don't want to trade for ANY picks coming from Chicago due to the very strong possibility it could be in the last 5 of whatever round pick we get, i.e 25th-30th in the 1st, or 2nd, or whatever round. I'd rather go for a team that's not highly favored to win the Cup..

Merril did a pretty good job on that 2-1, could of played it better but it was Greene who pinched up on the play and turned over and also didnèt get back in time. Also I don't think anyone thinks we can compete in play offs even if we add a legit scorer so adding Edler is stupid the whole point of making the play offs is not because we are ready to but to push the draft pick we have to forfeit as high up as possible. It would do wonder for Merril and Gelinas to get play off experience in and then see how much better they are for it come next season.

I think St. Louis poses a huge threat to Chicago's shot at a repeat with Miller but you are right they will have a 25 or higher pick. If we get a first and it ends up being the 25th over all pick I wonder if our second with that first would be enough to move up higher in the first round though.
